First off, I want to take the time to mention that NONE of the information on these sub-pages are my own creations. I get my information from a website:
DBT Self Help
Also, I get my information from personal experiences with DBT. I went through the group therapy for over 2 years and to this day, I still use my skills as much as I can. They are great and I even try to teach my autistic son whom also has a mood disorder and my daughter who is just, well, a pre teen, all these skills to help them as they grow in life.
With that said, I will get to a basic part....
What is DBT?
DBT stands for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. It is used in conjunction with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) at times and individual therapy to help individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and other mood disorders.
Keep in mind, this is meant just as a reference section. I am NOT a licensed therapist or anything. I am just trying to spread the word about DBT and the different ways you can help yourself or a loved one. I know a few people who are too shy, scared or suffer from things like agoraphobia or panic attacks when they try to go to these groups or to an individual therapist. I am just trying to help in the only way I can....but providing some knowledge.
If you take this as group therapy, usually, the key rule is the take one section and topic at a time and practice using it for 1 week straight. Then, you can move on to the next section. For example, you go into Mindfulness and start with the Reasonable Mind. Do that for 1 week straight before you start to go into the next section of that area, Emotional Mind.
If you ever have any questions, please feel free to use the contact me tab up top and I will help in every way possible. Or, if you are social media savvy, you can send a private message to me on the Facebook page:
Disability, Who?
No matter what, remember that you can make the decision to stop and start your day all over on a better note so you can have a great day!
