Self Sooth w/ 5 Senses
Self soothing is all about using the 5 senses we have:
These help you to cope with overwhelming negative emotions or intolerable situations.
Self soothing has to do with comforting, nurturing and being kind to yourself
Vision- Look at the nature around you, go to a museum, light a candle and watch the flame
Hearing- Listen to soothing music, the ocean or nature. Listen to a baby giggling or a cat purring. When you are listening, be mindful, letting the sounds come and go.
Smell- Notice the different smells around you. Walk in the garden or woods, Light a scented candle or incense. Bake something and take in all the smells of the various ingredients and when it's physically baking.
Taste- Have a special treat, eat it slowly and savor each bite. Let the taste run over your tongue and slowly down your throat. Taste new things even.
Touch- Take a bubble bath, pet an animal and feel it's softness and smoothness
